Climate investor Impact Ventures hits $10m under management
Impact Ventures has traditionally invested in the early-stages of some of Australia’s most exciting climate technology startups, such as Amber Electric, Allegro and Infravision. The fund secured investor access to these opportunities via Impact’s climate technology accelerator partner, EnergyLab.
Now Impact Ventures has passed $10 million under management for the first time and reached the first close of its annual $1 million follow-on fund. Final close for the follow-on fund is expected to be completed in August and will be deployed over the next 12 months.
The follow-on fund is designed to allow Impact Ventures to continue investing in the most successful startups as their business models mature.
Impact Ventures Co-Founder and GP James Tilbury said the follow-on fund was designed to help support startups in the IV portfolio experiencing strong growth, and provide the opportunity for local investors to access an Australian startup cohort which is rapidly expanding into international markets.
“Our startups deliver critical technologies for the energy transition that are rapidly being deployed in Australia and internationally – from grid rollout through to sophisticated distributed energy management.” Tilbury said. “Our alumni have had great support from Australian investors to date, and we’re looking to extend that support as they move into their growth phases.”
