The two new products, unveiled this week at Sydney’s Smart Energy Conference, won’t hit the market until the second half of 2021 but Redback Technologies CEO Patrick Matweew said the latest additions to the company’s smart home battery family are specifically targeted at the 2.6 million Australian households with existing PV systems.
“Affordability and ease of use were the guiding principles for our team – With the SB-Series we look to unlock additional value for owners of PV systems,” Matweew said.
“The market is changing fast, feed-in tariffs are falling, and export is no longer guaranteed, but using more of their solar energy at home is the smartest way for households to get more from their solar system – adding a Redback smart battery is the way to achieve that.
“Off the back of the tremendous success of the SB7200 we realised that the market is looking for more options and the 7.2kWh of the SB7200 is a great choice for many homes, but some households would like a bit more storage. That’s why we are adding a 9.6kWh and 14kWh solution to the portfolio.
“The batteries are also modular units, meaning they’re lightweight, easy to install and operate and as with all Redback solutions, the Smart Home Battery Systems are designed in Australia and are built to withstand Australia’s harshest conditions.”
Matweew said the new systems were perfect for those households looking to be sustainable and self-sufficient while lowering their bills and network power usage and would come with the welcome addition of an Australian backed 10-year warranty.
“The new SB9600 and SB14000 have been developed and designed to be affordable for Australian households and with our latest addition of a 10-year warranty attached to the battery system, owners will have peace of mind for years to come,” he said.
“As always, our systems are in keeping with Redback’s philosophy: maximise self-generated solar, minimise power bought from the grid, provide increased energy reliability and provide peace of mind in the event of a power outage.”
