Plico launches new finance option to help more Australian households access solar and batteries

Australian clean energy company, Plico, has launched Plico Finance, a new weekly payment option designed to help more households access solar and battery systems without the barrier of large upfront costs.

The launch strengthens Plico’s position as one of the only clean energy providers offering a full one-partner solution, bringing together system design, installation, financing, ongoing support and access to Virtual Power Plant rewards.

Available to eligible households in New South Wales and Western Australia, Plico Finance allows customers to pay off their solar and battery system in low weekly instalments over 10 years supported by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) Household Energy Upgrades Fund (HEUF).

The launch follows the CEFC commitment of up to $35 million from the Household Energy Upgrades Fund to provide discounted finance for Plico customers, supporting the rollout of solar, battery and Virtual Power Plant services to more Australian homes.

Plico Finance is designed to make household clean energy more accessible at a time when Australians are looking for practical ways to reduce energy bills, improve energy independence and avoid the upfront cost of solar and battery installation.

Plico Finance builds on Plico’s proven weekly payment model, now strengthened by support from the CEFC HEUF. Plico’s own member data has found that a third of customers have indicated that the Plico Finance weekly payment model is the main reason that they would choose Plico as their solar and battery provider.

Plico CEO, Robbie Campbell, says Plico Finance is about removing one of the biggest barriers to household energy upgrades: upfront cost, “More households understand the value of adding a battery to their home, but the upfront cost can still make it feel out of reach. Plico Finance is designed to remove that barrier, so households in NSW and WA can access solar and battery technology in a way that better fits their weekly budget.”

“What makes this model powerful is that households don’t have to wait years to feel the benefit. By spreading the cost into weekly instalments, customers can start reducing their electricity bills from day one and use those savings to help offset the cost of the system over time.”

“This is not just about helping individual households lower their bills. By making solar and batteries easier to access, we can bring more homes into Virtual Power Plants and create a smarter, more flexible energy system that benefits customers and the grid.”

Under Plico Finance, eligible customers can access same-day approval, no establishment fee and weekly instalments to make budgeting easier. Finance is available for eligible solar panel, inverter and battery systems installed at residential properties, with systems required to include a solar battery.

For NSW customers, the launch represents the first time Plico’s low weekly instalment finance option is being offered in the state with the support of CEFC-backed finance, expanding the model that has helped drive Plico’s growth in Western Australia.

Campbell says the expansion was an important step in helping more Australians participate in the clean energy transition, “Plico has already shown in WA that households are ready for a simpler way to access solar, batteries and VPP rewards. Bringing Plico Finance to NSW means more Australians can now be part of that model.”

“Every battery connected to a Virtual Power Plant helps households get more value from their system, while also supporting a more flexible and resilient grid.”

Plico Finance can also be combined with other finance options, including the WA Battery Rebate No-interest Loan for eligible WA customers, giving households more flexibility in how they access solar and battery technology.

The CEFC is an Australian Government-owned investor helping finance Australia’s transition to net zero emissions. Its Household Energy Upgrades Fund is designed to help more Australians access discounted finance for home energy upgrades, including rooftop solar, batteries and related technologies.

Plico Finance is now available to eligible households in NSW and WA.
