Waratah Super Battery now operating at 700MW

Akaysha Energy confirms that the Waratah Super Battery is now operating at 700 MW, 82% of total capacity, and at 1,680 MWh, which is its full rated energy capacity.

This follows the successful return to service of Transformer 2.

Reaching 700 MW represents a significant step in bringing one of Australia’s most important energy infrastructure projects online and enabling increased participation in the electricity market.

The Waratah Super Battery will continue to provide 350 MW of the System Integrity Protection Scheme (SIPS) Service, with the other 350 MW of capacity to be deployed into the National Electricity Market.

The full 700MW SIPS service will be provided when High Voltage Transformer 3 (HVT3) is operating later this year and Waratah’s full 850 MW / 1,680 MWh capacity is online.

Akaysha will provide further updates as commissioning progresses.
