Chinese inverter and battery maker Fox ESS has unveiled a modular commercial and industrial (C&I) storage system that it says can scale from 28 kWh to nearly 1,000 kWh on a single inverter. The company lists a maximum on-grid configuration of 100 units in parallel, for 96 MWh, and an off-grid maximum of 30 units, for 28.8 MWh.

The system, called Power Beast, was launched on last week at a company event in Wenzhou, China. It combines Fox ESS’s 125 kW H3 Plus hybrid inverter with its CQ series of high-voltage batteries.

According to the inverter’s datasheet, it has a battery voltage range of 180 V to 950 V, a maximum efficiency of 98.5% and an IP65 rating. The datasheets for the 5.99 kWh CQ6 and 7.02 kWh CQ7 modules list certification to IEC 62619 and a cycle life of at least 6,000 cycles to 70% state of health.

Fox ESS has not published a datasheet for the larger CQ20 module, which it says achieves 7 kg per kWh at module level, or about 143 Wh/kg. The company describes the CQ20 as “the industry’s first modular C&I energy storage system with a fully integrated hybrid inverter.”

Sigenergy has offered a similar architecture since launching its SigenStack at Intersolar Europe in June 2024. The system pairs a hybrid inverter of up to 125 kW with stackable battery modules.

Fox ESS said the modular design cuts total installation time by 90%, without specifying the baseline. At the launch, a team assembled and connected a 316 kWh system in under 30 minutes, the company said.

Fox ESS did not disclose pricing, launch markets, delivery dates, warranty terms, system-level certifications or its cell supplier.

The launch comes as Fox ESS, which is registered in China as Maitian Energy, pursues a listing on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange’s ChiNext board, where it plans to raise CNY 1.66 billion ($360 million). Its prospectus reports 2025 revenue of CNY 6.53 billion and net profit of CNY 1.12 billion, with more than 99% of its main-business revenue earned outside China.
