AGL partners with food producer to install 1.2 MW rooftop solar
Gentailer AGL has partnered with New South Wales (NSW)-based food and beverage producer Bega Group to install a 1.23 MW rooftop solar system on a milk-based beverages manufacturing facility in Western Sydney delivered under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
Utilising 2,400 solar panels across interconnected rooftops, the PPA gives the facility access to renewable energy without upfront capital investment in the large-scale solar system roughly equivalent in size to 187 Australian household solar systems.
AGL Commercial and Industrial Customers General Manager Brendan Weinet said companies like Bega Group face three key issues of affordability, sustainability, and reliability.
“This solution helps them address those needs. AGL’s ambition is to support business customers across Australia, just like the Bega Group in trying to help them on their energy decarbonisation strategy,” Weinet said.

Bega Group aims is to reduce reliance on grid electricity and support its target to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 40% by 2030.
Bega Group Operations Milk Based Beverages Operations Manager Andrew Harris said the installation is a major project for company.
“It provides local clean generation of power to sustain the operation and really head toward a net zero neutral economy,” Harris said.
