InterContinental Energy, the leading dedicated green hydrogen developer, has announced its recruitment of four new senior hires with skills including specialist engineering, renewable energy and zero-carbon fuels, as well as commercial partnerships and project development. This bench of world-class specialist expertise enables InterContinental Energy to further deliver on its strategy to drive the renewable energy revolution beyond green electricity to green fuels.

InterContinental Energy has a growing portfolio of projects at sites with high levels of combined wind and solar power. These carefully chosen locations allow production of renewable fuels, such as green hydrogen and green ammonia, at a scale that becomes cost competitive with fossil fuels. The sheer size of these sites, such as the 26-gigawatt Asian Renewable Energy Hub, as well as other forthcoming similarly sized or larger projects in the InterContinental Energy portfolio, will help meet increasing global demand from energy intensive sectors under social, environmental and regulatory pressure to decarbonise their businesses.

Commenting on the appointments, Alexander Tancock, Co-Founder and Managing Director of InterContinental Energy, said, “We have been privileged to assemble this team of world leading experts to help deliver our vision of deploying clean energy projects at massive scale around the world. We believe in leading by example. Our growing team not only brings the talent and experience to execute, but equally important, shares our core company values: Doing things right, by doing the right thing.” The four new Directors at InterContinental Energy are:

Warner Priest – Midstream Energy Director Warner joins InterContinental Energy after working at the forefront of power networks and hydrogen at Siemens. In addition to his extensive knowledge of power transmission and distributed energy systems, microgrids, and embedded networks, Warner has become an expert and leader in the integrated hydrogen solutions value chain. Using his broad understanding of electron production through transformation into molecules, Warner will lead the midstream energy strategy at InterContinental Energy.

Vinod Patel – Downstream Energy Director Joining InterContinental Energy after nearly 25 years at Yara, Vinod has been a leader in ammonia and downstream hydrogen production, from oil and gas-based to more recently renewables-powered electrolysis. His leadership and management roles have ranged from plant operation and operations management to process engineering, business development, innovation, and project development. As Downstream Director at InterContinental Energy, Vinod will drive and oversee the implementation of world leading green hydrogen and green ammonia projects.

Philip Haydn Jones – Commercial Director Bridging old to new energy, Philip brings a wealth of commercial experience from twenty years at TOTAL in trading and commercial roles covering gas, LNG, power, renewables and green hydrogen. He has a deep knowledge of energy markets as well as developing and commercialising large scale energy projects. As Commercial Director, he will be responsible for overseeing all aspects related to offtake and sales and marketing strategy for the InterContinental Energy global portfolio of green fuels and molecules.

Raymond Macdonald – Director of Project Management Following a long history delivering large renewable energy projects for Siemens, Vestas, and GE; Raymond joins InterContinental Energy with over 30 years of experience in general management, project delivery, project and operations management across multiple industries; including renewable energy, oil & gas, marine, and mining. The delivery of green projects at massive scale requires innovative solutions to existing project management practices. Raymond will lead InterContinental Energy’s trailblazing delivery of these large and complex projects as Director of Project Management.

These four new hires further strengthen the senior team at InterContinental Energy that has extensive experience in renewable energy and fuels project development as well as operational, project finance, and commercial partnership expertise. Other recent hires include Richard Colwill, Engineering Director, who joined after over twenty years at leading global project management consultancy BMT, including his role as Head of Asia; as well as Brendan Hammond, Head of Australia for InterContinental Energy and Project Director for the Asian Renewable Energy Hub. Brendan joined the firm after decades working in Australia’s natural resources and energy sectors and as a leader in effective stakeholder management utilising ESG bast practices.
