Sheldon joined RedEarth as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) in July 2024 and he takes the reins as CEO from Charles Walker who has been the company’s CEO since founding RedEarth in 2013. This handover forms part of RedEarth’s strategic approach to executive leadership succession. Walker will remain at RedEarth as Non-Executive Director.
In less than a year since joining RedEarth, Sheldon has been instrumental in putting a focus on the company’s core business, reviewed its product roadmap and implemented organisational wide changes to position RedEarth for future growth and scalability.
Sheldon, CEO of RedEarth said, “I would like to thank Charlie Walker for leading RedEarth for over a decade as Chief Executive Officer. He is truly a visionary for clean energy and its pragmatic use in enriching Australian households and businesses. Under his watch as CEO, Charlie held fast to his belief on how valuable it can be for Australian homes and businesses to make, use and trade their rooftop solar energy and to seamlessly integrate renewable energy into a stretched power grid.”
“Together with his dedication to build RedEarth’s Australian manufacturing capabilities, he has set the company up for continued growth into the future, putting the needs of our Australian customers and suppliers at the heart of our product roadmap. His foresight has brought RedEarth to where it is today and that is to be one of the major competitive forces in the renewable energy industry. Charlie’s continued involvement to secure capital for RedEarth will be pivotal to our ambitions to grow and expand.”
Charlie Walker, Founder and Non-Executive Director of RedEarth said, “RedEarth has added value to our customers, the grid and the Australian energy industry from the very beginning. The business has been at the forefront of this change as generation, the usage and reliance on electricity has shifted from a cottage industry to an enormous, permanent industry.”
“Marc will capitalise on this once-in-a-generation step change in the industry to take RedEarth on its next phase of growth. He brings to the company deep entrepreneurial experience and an ability to grow companies to very significant scale. Marc’s deep industry experience with sonnen and SwitchDin and a vision to accelerate the connection of Distributed Energy Resources and cleantech manufacturing makes him an ideal candidate to lead RedEarth.”
“In less than a year since joining RedEarth, his hard work and significant contributions have been recognised across the business, by our shareholders, partners and customers. Having completed significant work to achieve scale, RedEarth is more than ready for its next stage of growth under Marc’s leadership.”
Sheldon will be supported by RedEarth’s executive leadership team: Brett Wayne as Chief Financial Officer, Soula van Kooy, Chief of Staff and Adam Williams, General Manager of Operations.
