Arca has joined the Development Partner Institute (DPI) as an Associate Partner, ensuring Traditional Owners and stakeholders are engaged from the outset in designing future carbon removal projects.
Arca is partnering with the Climate Recovery Institute (DPI), a not-for-profit working with governments, industry and communities to develop a durable carbon removal industry in Australia.
Additionally, Arca is partnering with Wyloo and a gold producer in WA to assess carbon removal opportunities at their mining operations, using existing tailings streams to capture and store atmospheric CO2.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with forward-thinking partners who recognise the critical role carbon mineralisation can play in decarbonising the mining industry,” said Paul Needham, CEO of Arca.
“We believe we need to make big, bold moves to stabilise the climate, and this is an important step towards achieving Australia’s climate goals,” he added.
“There is strong alignment between Indigenous values of stewardship and environmental restoration, and Arca’s mission to stabilise the climate by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere,” said Florence Drummond, Executive Director of DPI.
“We are excited to join Arca’s journey and host the important dialogues that further the mining industry’s position as a true partner in development.”
In addition to the partnerships, Arca has secured $12.8 million (USD 8 million) from investors, including Side Stage Ventures and Saniel Ventures, two leading Australian venture capital firms.
The funding will help Arca further scale its impact.
The announcement coincides with the Team Canada Trade Mission (TCTM), led by The Honourable Mary Ng, Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, reinforcing the alignment of Australian and Canadian efforts in climate technology.
“This is a great example of Canadian and Australian cooperation that involves the exchange of technical, business and social expertise,” said Minister Ng.
“Australia is a key Indo-Pacific ally and long-standing partner of Canada’s and this TCTM will help Canadian and Australian companies explore new markets, establish new connections and support the growth of both countries’ economies,” she concluded.
Australia’s vast mineral resources position it to become a global leader in carbon mineralisation, a process recognised in recent Western Australian policy initiatives, including Premier Roger Cook’s Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage Action Plan and the Minerals Research Institute of WA’s mineral carbonation roadmap.
Arca’s technology repurposes mine waste for large-scale carbon removal, accelerating the natural geochemical process that transforms atmospheric CO2 into stable carbonate minerals. By working within existing industrial footprints, Arca offers mining companies a viable pathway to decarbonisation.
This announcement points to a growing coalition of corporations, investors, mining companies, climate technology innovators, governments and Indigenous communities that are aligned on practical action to address cooperation on the climate emergency.

Wyloo CEO Luca Giavocazzi said:
“Wyloo is planning to ultimately eliminate carbon emissions from our operations. Through our investigations with Arca we are looking to go beyond this and actively remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as we process our nickel.”
“The mining industry must look for innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint, and mineral carbonation presents a unique opportunity to turn waste into part of that solution. We’re excited about partnering with Arca to trial mineral carbonation at our Kambalda sites, and to share these learnings with our Canadian project.”
Climate Recovery Institute Director Henry Adams said:
“Australian and international climate goals are now no longer possible without removing vast amounts of historical emissions from the atmosphere, in addition to the rapid and deep decarbonisation of existing emissions sources.”
“Atmospheric carbon mineralisation solutions like Arca’s represent an opportunity for Australia to build a new resource recovery industry that helps clean up the historical emissions needed to help meet net zero targets and begin to reverse global warming.”
Side Stage Ventures and Co-chair of the Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce Elli Hanson, Principal Investor at Side Stage Ventures and Co-chair of the Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce said:
“Australia is a world leader in mining and is uniquely positioned to drive the global industry to a lower carbon future — Arca is at the forefront of this shift.”
“As a Canadian investor based in Australia, I’m particularly excited by this collaboration between our two resource-rich nations, leveraging decades of innovation to drive large-scale decarbonisation.”
“Arca’s ability to transform mine tailings into a powerful climate solution is not just groundbreaking—it highlights the strength of Australian Canadian partnerships in shaping a more sustainable industrial future.”
Saniel Ventures Leigh Jasper, founder of Saniel Ventures said:
”Arca brings together an exceptional team, cutting-edge technology, and a clear path to large-scale impact in mining decarbonisation. We are thrilled to support them in this valuable mission. With Australia at the forefront of this sector, Arca’s success locally positions it well to drive sustainability in mining globally.”
Tamsin Senders, Arca Australia General Manager said:
“At this moment of great global climate peril, it is encouraging to know that there are practical solutions, plentiful immediate feedstocks and widespread positive support for implementation of these technologies across industry, government and communities.”
