Those key distributors and installers were keen to hear how modules utilising the new larger M6 mono wafer format would be able to support their opportunity to save money on installation and increase yield for customers, thereby driving rooftop system sales.
The new M6 Mono PERC wafer, developed by Longi, creates higher density yield from the same area as previous wafer configurations. For the first time this wafer technology will be available for residential and C+I installers and distributors in Australia when they switch to use the new Hi-MO 4 modules.
Longi Australia opened a Sydney based office last year and the team has recently grown. Stephen Zhang, Managing Director, Longi Australia “We are proud to build on our physical presence in Australia and excited to present the new Hi-MO 4 module family to our customers through this virtual forum. We welcome all the feedback from our customers and will continue to support them locally in Australia.”
There were three speakers presenting on the commercial, technical and logistic considerations of the new Hi-MO 4. Zane Zhou, Head of C&I, Longi Australia “The innovative design and exceptional technical performance of the Hi MO 4 will increase site yield for customers while at the same time lowering BOS costs for installers.”
A special industry guest, Warwick Johnson, Founder, Sunwiz, shared current market data and provided his expert insight into the Australian solar market. According to Warwick, “The data shows a potential downward trend in April but year on year there remains strong growth for rooftop installations in the residential and commercial segments”
The webinar was hosted by, David Owen, Director, Clean Energy Marketing Services and PV-Tech, “Longi’s communication strategy to launch (their new module) digitally in Australia was inspired and shows their commitment to innovation in technology and business operations. It was a pleasure to be involved with such a professional production.”
A series of interactive polls took place through out the webinar and produced some interesting results. 73% of the installer and distributor audience thought the Australian government’s initiatives in promoting the solar energy sector were effective or very effective while on a separate poll 65% thought policy and regulation were the biggest opportunity for improvements to help the industry. Nearly half of the audience (45%) said they expected the solar industry to stabilise over the next three months.
