Introducing SRES Smart

Share

Agents are critical to the integrity of the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. SRES Smart provides evidence and assurance to the agency that registered agents and their REC Registry account users understand their responsibilities, expected capabilities and standards of practice as participants in the scheme.

SRES Smart is accessed via the Client Portal and requires users to complete a series of interactive online modules, knowledge checks and a self-assessment tool.

Who has to complete SRES Smart?

SRES Smart is mandatory for new registered agent applicants and any REC Registry users that seek small-scale technology certificates (STC) creation permissions in a registered agent account.

We strongly encourage existing agents a nd existing REC Registry account users with STC creation permissions to successfully complete SRES Smart within the next six months.

SRES Smart usage is tracked and the data we collect will inform our audit and compliance activities. Existing registered agents a nd existing REC Registry account users with STC creation permissions who do not complete SRES Smart within the next six months will have their activities subjected to closer scrutiny under our compliance processes. Applications to create STCs may be subject to increased assessment checks which may extend processing times.

After completing SRES Smart for the first time, including the self-assessment tool, registered agents and their REC Registry account users with STC creation permissions will be encouraged to complete the self-assessment tool again on an annual basis to ensure that their knowledge of the scheme and their role within it remains up to date.
