OpenSolar hits major milestone in global clean energy transition

This milestone reflects exponential growth, with billions of dollars of gross merchandise value (GMV) now changing hands on the platform every year. OpenSolar’s rapid global adoption and its pivotal role in scaling the clean energy transition has been achieved by equipping installers with best-in-class tools — at zero cost.

Since its founding in 2019, OpenSolar has empowered solar professionals to streamline operations, reduce soft costs, and accelerate project timelines.

“Crossing $10 billion in solar sales shows what happens when the right model meets real-world demand. Most raise a Series B and start charging more. We raised ours, kept access open and free, and continued to grow at 36 percent per year,” says Andrew Birch, co-founder and CEO of OpenSolar. “Today, more than 25,000 solar pros in 160 countries use our technology to design better projects, faster. This is climate action at work, in the real world, and at scale.”

To date, the systems sold through OpenSolar will, over the course of their useful lives, prevent an estimated 63 million metric tonnes of CO₂ from entering the atmosphere.

“Using OpenSolar’s project management tools, we cut down on admin time and eliminated double-or triple-handling of client data—streamlining operations and improving visibility across our team,” says Jack Major, Sales Director at 4 Way Electrical Ltd (UK).

As global demand for solar surges, OpenSolar continues to lead with innovation and accessibility, removing friction so the people powering the clean energy transition can focus on what matters: building a livable planet.
