Reliable renewables a step closer for ACT apartment residents

The Solar for Apartments Program is making cheaper, cleaner solar energy accessible to those who have previously missed out on the benefits of renewables.

Body corporates in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) are now able to request quotes on rooftop solar installations from eligible vendors on the Brighte Marketplace via the Solar for Apartments Program.

More than 2,100 households will benefit, which could provide a 35% reduction in energy bills for locals living in apartments.

Body corporates can apply for up to $100,000 for rooftop solar, with half as a Commonwealth grant or rebate, and half as an interest free loan.

“As well as allowing more Canberrans living in apartment complexes to enjoy cheaper, cleaner energy, the Solar for Apartments Program also supports our commitment to transitioning to a cleaner and more reliable energy mix,” ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said.

“This program supports the ACT government’s commitment to being a global leader in climate action and reducing emissions to net zero by 2045.”

The Solar for Apartments Program is co-funded up under the Community Solar Banks initiative of the Australian Government and the ACT Government’s Sustainable Household Scheme.

Brighte is the exclusive finance and administration provider of the ACT Government’s Sustainable Household Scheme. To date there has been over 22,000 applications for the Sustainable Household Scheme.

This investment will help boost more affordable, reliable energy, as we harness some of the world’s best renewable resources.
