WA Energy Minister Bill Johnston today announced six not-for-profit organisations that will be gifted a fully installed rooftop solar panel system from the State Government.

The six beneficiaries of the Synergy Community Solar Fund in 2020 are:

  • Spare Parts Puppet Theatre;
  • Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centre;
  • Second Harvest;
  • Communicare;
  • Rocky Bay; and
  • Foothills Information and Referral Service.

All eligible entrants will receive a free energy audit from Synergy and advice on how to save on their power bills. More than 150 energy audits have been conducted since the fund began.

Since 2018, the fund has donated 10 solar systems totalling 165kW to not-for-profit organisations and they have already collectively saved almost $75,000.

Comments attributed to Energy Minister Bill Johnston:

“I’m thrilled to announce the State Government, through Synergy, will gift rooftop solar panels to six well-deserved community groups throughout Perth.

“The McGowan Government is committed to our State’s transition towards a low carbon future and ensuring our energy system can support the rapid uptake of renewable generation.”

Comments attributed to Forrestfield MLA Stephen Price:

“The Foothills Information and Referral Service provides valuable financial counselling and support services to those in need.

“This solar donation will allow them to reinvest the savings from their energy bills back into their important community services.”
