The Australian Energy Council’s Chief Executive, Sarah McNamara, said that the Council and its members understand that maintaining connection to energy is critical.
“Customers that have concerns about being able to manage their household bills can contact their energy retailer. There is a range of assistance that is available and retailers are ready to help.
“But we also understand that not everyone may feel confident about approaching their retailer, so the support announced today will make a difference in those circumstances.
“The important message is that retailers will provide tailored assistance to all customers who are doing it tough.
“The assistance may vary based on each customer’s individual circumstances, but can include things like payment plans, bill smoothing, assistance in accessing grants and concessions, as well as hardship programs.”
