CRONIMET Mining Power Solutions Connects Solar Plant at Mokuti Lodge

Share

The project is the second utility scale solar PV plant CRONIMET implemented within the African hospitality industry. From now on, the electricity generated will enable the Mokuti Etosha Lodge, a property owned and operated by Olthaver & List (O&L) Leisure, to become energy-independent, reduce pollution and save electricity cost. The excess energy will be fed into the public grid in order to supply local communities with clean energy.

The plant is located at the Mokuti Etosha Lodge bordering the sun-drenched Namibian Etosha National Park. It has an installed capacity of 470 kWp producing over 1150 MWh per Year. The plant is equipped with an horizontal tracking system, that follows the sun movement on its daily course form east to west, in order to maximise the power output. Having engaged more than 40 local workers in order to build the plant, the local value added was substantial.

CRONIMET Mining Power Solutions Namibia has completed the project as Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. OLC Mokuti Solar Energy, a joint venture of CRONIMET Mining Power Solutions GmbH and its local strategic partner O&L Energy, will be the Independent Power Producer (IPP).
