Clean Energy Council Chief Executive Kane Thornton said it was fantastic to see one of the major parties committing to the future of renewable energy by investing in the foundations of the industry through skills development and apprenticeships.
The Labor Party has unveiled a $75 million total package which includes support for 10,000 young Australians to train in the jobs of the future, apprentice incentives for employers and $30 million allocated to upgrade TAFEs and upskill locals for renewable energy industry positions,” Mr Thornton said.
“This investment will be critical for the industry as renewable energy continues its record-breaking run of recent years – even more so with the tens of thousands of additional jobs which Labor’s renewable energy policies are expected to create.
“It’s time to invest in the future of the industry and ensure we are equipped and skilled for the energy transformation ahead of time to allow us to keep up the current momentum,” he said.
Skills development was one of the 10 key federal policy recommendations developed by the Clean Energy Council for political parties ahead of the election. To view the full set of recommendations please visit cleanenergycouncil.org.au/federalelection
