The Summit focuses on decarbonisation, electrification, renewables, hydrogen and ESG for mines and showcases the very latest case studies from major and mid-tier mines progressing decarbonisation initiatives to accelerate the pathway to zero-carbon mining. Now in its 7th year, this is the annual event for miners to get the latest updates on the strategies and technologies for realising net-zero targets and to network with mining peers and global decarbonisation experts.
Hon. Reece Whitby, Minister for Environment; Climate Action; Government of Western Australia will provide the opening keynote presentation at the Summit. The McGowan Government’s commitment to introduce climate change legislation this year and establish a framework for responsible reductions to meet Western Australia’s goal of net zero by 2050 is another key driver for mining’s decarbonisation transition and will also be a focus at this year’s Summit.
“We asked our mining attendees what the key topics are for them at this particular stage of the decarbonisation pathway for mining and this is what we’re focusing on at this year’s Summit,” says Adrienne Baker, Director of Energy and Mines. “This is a very complicated transition and the window for decision-making in terms of what solutions and technologies to deploy to reach net zero is getting smaller – this is why we’re delighted to provide the connection point for miners and decarbonisation experts.”
With 85+ speakers, this year’s expanded agenda includes in-depth sessions on the key topics miners are most interested in at this stage of the decarbonisation journey including:
● The Net-Zero Mine
● Decarbonising Mine Fleets
● The All-Electric Mine
● Zero-Carbon Mining Grids
● Decarbonisation Strategies for Small to Mid-Cap Mines
● Optimising Renewables and Decarbonising Energy for Pilbara Mines
● Turning Carbon into Rocks to Realise Net Zero Mining
● Operational Implications of Renewables and Storage for Mines
● Accelerating Decarbonisation for Mining
● Safeguard Mechanism Reforms and Impacts for Mining
● Carbon Risk, Modelling and Reporting
● Demystifying ESG for Mines
● Making Hydrogen Viable for Mining
● Long Duration Energy Storage for Mines – Technologies, Applications, and Scalability
● Sustainable Fuel Applications in Mining
● Mining Decarbonisation Solutions to Watch
