Tesvolt releases outdoor storage system, targets remote communities, offgrid applications

Tesvolt is continuing to expand its portfolio of energy storage products, with its latest system well suited for offgrid and e-mobility applications. The TS HV 70 Outdoor, launched today, can withstand temperature variations from -33C up to 55C in its premium version without any damage to its battery cells.

The new outdoors system is being targeted at C&I customers without sufficient space within buildings onsite for a battery storage unit and offgrid applications. Due to its fast charge and discharge rate, it is also well suited to support e-mobility charging stations – including fast chargers – preventing high peak loads when multiple cars are charging from stations located close by to each other.

“Our new outdoor cabinet makes it possible to achieve the familiar Tesvolt performance while benefiting from a minimal footprint – and in addition, it is very well protected against external impacts,” said Victor Schäfer, VP of R&D at Tesvolt in a statement.

In June 2017, Tesvolt entered into a partnership with Perth-based Unlimited Energy to supply the Australian market. It is targeting remote and regional communities with its storage solutions in the offgrid segment, alongside C&I applications.

“The Unlimited Energy team is supporting installers to become certified installers of Tesvolt in Australia,” Michael Geib – Tesvolt’s VP Sales told pv magazine Australia at the outdoor system launch. “We work with local partners to understand the local needs, the market, and then to provide the right product and solution.”

Geib said that in remote communities in Australia, including farmers and Indigenous communities, the company’s mission is to assist them to become independent of diesel generation.

“This goal makes the robustness of a system to weather conditions and to user conditions important,” said Geib. “What we supply is not a commodity product for mass markets. It is individual to the user, and is an extension of the [PV or small wind turbine] system for needs of the customer.”
