The Department of the Interior first approved the project between the solar-panel producer in 2012 in an agreement between First Solar and the Moapa Band of Paiutes. The project can power 11,000 homes and will provide electricity to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), through a 25-year power-purchase agreement (PPA).
