Verdia: 10 MW Stockland deal a sign of bigger things to come
Commercial and industrial (C&I) PV and energy efficiency provider Verdia says that its deal to supply Stockland shopping centres with rooftop PV is just the beginning of a major wave of new installations in the fast-growing market segment. Verdia reports it is working on 130 MW of projects across 350 sites.
Newcastle Council to build 5 MW array after power bill doubles in two years
The Newcastle City Council will construct a 5 MW PV array at its Summerhill Waste Management Centre. The $8 million PV system is part of an attempt by the council to reduce its $4 million annual electricity bills, after they doubled over the past two years.
Construction on 112 MW Karadoc project to begin this month
Beon Energy Solutions is set to begin construction on BayWa r.e.’s 112 MW Karadoc solar farm in Mildura, Victoria. Completion of the project is scheduled for late 2018.
Clean Energy Regulator: record 1.07 GW small-scale solar installed in 2017
It’s official: 2017 was a record year for rooftop PV in Australia. The Clean Energy Regulator announced today that over 1070 MW of small-scale solar was installed by Australian homeowners and businesses in 2017 – representing 41% growth over 2016.
Sunseap supplying 60 MW multi-rooftop project to Microsoft
Singapore-based solar developer Sunseap will develop 60 MW of rooftop PV across “hundreds of rooftops” on the island-state, to supply Microsoft with solar energy. The companies claim the project will be the largest cumulative solar project in Singapore, alongside being the largest of its kind to supply clean energy to a datacentre in the country.

Prospective PV power plant developer Green Switch Australia has proposed a 47 MW solar farm for the outskirts of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.
GTM: Australian tracker “exploded” in 2017, 1.4 GW deployed
The use of PV trackers in utility scale solar arrays in Australia broke all records in 2017, with the technology being deployed in more than 90% of plants under construction. Clean Energy Regulator sees healthy surplus of LGCs after final surrender
As the deployment of large scale renewable energy projects picked up the pace in 2017, the 2020 Renewable Energy Target of 33,000 GWh has been put within reach. The Clean Energy Regulator has reported “a healthy surplus” of renewable energy certificates in the Renewable Energy Target market.
South Australia Premier promises interest-free loans for solar+storage
In yet another renewable energy related election commitment, South Australia Premier Jay Weatherill has pledged to offer loans to 10,000 households to install rooftop solar and battery storage, which will be made available interest-free for the first seven years.
