The inaugural South Australia Investment Conference to be held at SkyCity Adelaide on 1-2 December 2022 will explore significant opportunities across renewable energy projects and address the challenges presented by a rapidly changing dynamic.

About 150 invited investors, legislators, industry leaders and technical experts will attend the two-day event, which will be moderated by experienced journalist and presenter Geraldine Doogue.

Headline speakers include international energy transition advisor Audrey Zibelman who is a member of President Joe Biden’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council and works with companies including X, Alphabet’s moonshot factory (formerly known as Google X), and David Neal, CEO of $200 billion international fund managers IFM Investors.

Other keynote presenters include Fortescue Future Industries chief financial officer and former RBA deputy governor Dr Guy Debelle, renowned economist Professor Ross Garnaut AC, chief investment officer of Plenary Group Paul Crowe as well as Katerina Kimmorley, head of commercial and investments for Atlassian’s Boundless foundation.

With the government of South Australia committing to new hydrogen assets including a 250 MWe electrolyser, a 200 MW power station and a 3600-tonne storage facility, the state is emerging as a world-class supplier of clean hydrogen.

“South Australia’s bold vision for hydrogen has captured the imagination of the world, and the appetite for what we can produce is significant,” Premier Peter Malinauskas said.

“Our recent six-day visit to South Korea and Japan highlighted just how hungry these economies are for green hydrogen.

“The design and construction of our pioneering hydrogen project will help accelerate South Australia’s green hydrogen industry, unlock the development of a $20 billion pipeline of renewable energy projects and catalyse the creation of new jobs in the supply chain industries.

“That this leadership is being recognised at a global level is underlined by the fact that our plan has elicited 60 proposals from organisations across the world vying to showcase their capabilities and ideas. This conference will be a call to action to ensure we capitalise on the opportunities being created in South Australia.”

The South Australia Investment Conference 2022, which is being presented by the Committee for Adelaide in collaboration with the Department for Trade and Investment, will also discuss the critical complementary areas of quantum technology, ESG and carbon accounting.
