The Inclusive Employer Index is an annual survey developed by DCA to measure employee diversity and inclusion experiences in the workplace. The survey collects data directly and anonymously from employees of SMA Australia via an independent third party.
Participating in this index enabled SMA Australia to evaluate the current state of inclusion in its workforce and compare it to the Australian Workforce and DCA member benchmarks. This data empowers SMA Australia to show its commitment to inclusion, reflect on its achievements and identify ways to do even better.
To be named on the inclusive employers list, organisations must exceed the National Index Benchmark across at least five of the key areas: awareness, engagement, inclusive organisational climate, inclusive leadership, inclusive team, and exclusion.
SMA Australia’s commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment is reflected in its strong performance in key diversity metrics. When benchmarked against the broader Australian workforce, SMA’s results for ‘inclusive organisational climate’ were 29% higher. Additionally, SMA’s scores for ‘inclusive leadership’ exceeded the national average by 38%, highlighting the company’s dedication to creating a supportive and diverse workplace culture.
Doris Spielthenner, Managing Director, SMA Australia said the organisation is deeply honoured to be recognised by Diversity Council Australia as a 2024-2025 Inclusive Employer.
“At SMA, we are proud to be recognised as an Inclusive Employer by DCA. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace fosters innovation, collaboration, and growth,” she said.
“This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating an environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their best.”

“It’s an evidence-based process that reveals the state of inclusion and diversity across participating organisations. Recognition as an Inclusive Employer means your organisation is doing the necessary work to create a welcoming and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.”
