dpSun, a leading solar energy R&D company, has recently participated in an Energy Catalyst brokerage trip to the Philippines alongside other innovative companies. During the trip, dpSun’s Managing Director, Sergio Cardamas, met with Pedro Lite from PNOC RC, one of the largest energy companies in the Philippines, and both parties agreed to collaborate on the deployment of a solar energy project aimed at providing stability to the grid.
PNOC RC is a subsidiary of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), which is owned by the Philippine government. The company is primarily involved in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas, as well as the generation and supply of electricity through its subsidiary, PNOC Renewables Corporation (PNOC RC).
This partnership marks another significant milestone for dpSun, which was recently awarded an Energy Catalyst grant in Round 9 for a project in Samoa called SAMGRIST – Samoa Grid Stabilisation. The company has been actively developing rural electrification projects in Africa and is now expanding into the Indo-Pacific region, with ongoing projects in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and more.
Sergio also shared insights about dpSun’s other notable projects, such as the IC2EV project, which has recently been awarded in the Innovation Challenge II in Dundee. The project involves converting internal combustion vehicles to electric at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc, and has already made significant progress in promoting sustainable transportation.
With the Indo-Pacific region being a key part of dpSun’s five-year expansion plan, the company is excited about the many opportunities it sees there. dpSun would like to express its gratitude to Energy Catalyst and Innovate UK for providing them with this opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the Philippines’ electric sector.
dpSun is committed to delivering innovative solar energy solutions that create a positive impact on communities and the environment. Stay tuned for more updates on the company’s exciting projects in the future.
