During the nationwide lockdown, Solgen’s staff were taken care of thanks to the Federal Government’s Job Keeper and Job Seeker stimulus packages, but now we are glad to say that our workforce is back to full strength delivering projects around the country.
Like many industries, solar certainly experienced the stress of lower revenues as a result of the pandemic. Throughout the third and fourth quarters of 2020 many of Solgen’s commercial and industrial clients continued to recognise the value of investing in solar PV. Of course, the recurrent spikes in Victoria and other States has kept the industry on edge, and unlike larger organisations, many smaller organisations remain inclined to watch their capex spending.
Fortunately, Solgen’s PPA offering means that such clients are able to preserve their capex at this ambiguous time and proceed with the installation of solar PV. This way, these companies can start to save on their energy bills sooner rather than later. After all, at times such as these there are few sources of calm and security better than that provided by solar, namely, solace.
Getting back to work
With our staff back in the swing of things, Solgen is back in the swing of delivering transformative projects. We recently helped La Trobe University on its way to ‘net zero’ carbon emissions through the installation of 7,500 solar panels across 25 buildings at its Bundoora campus, a project Victorian Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said demonstrated what could be achieved with leadership, clear targets, and renewable energy. At its peak, the 2.5 MW system will provide up to 50% of the campus’ daytime energy usage.
Solgen’s CEO David Brown knows that the continuity of our operations can provide the brightness of much-needed benefits in these dark and uncertain times. For that reason, Solgen is excited about its projects about to commence or already underway, such as an installation atop an Australia Post Distribution Centre in Melbourne, Vicinity Shopping Centre at Karratha, and two hospitals in Adelaide. “These are exciting times for the industry and our team,” David said, and Solgen is eager to “focus on how we continue to deliver quality outcomes to our clients.”
