Circular PV Alliance (CPVA) is proud to announce that Volta has joined CPVA as an Industry Member, signalling that circularity considerations continue to grow in importance and relevance to the industry.
Volta is an energy advisory, project delivery and asset services company, specialising in the development and delivery of major infrastructure and utility-scale renewable energy projects. Working across projects representing approximately 20% of AEMO’s committed BESS pipeline in the NEM, this enables Volta to see a fundamental shift – the energy transition is no longer just about deployment – it’s about how assets are designed, managed, and retired.
As the first generation of large-scale solar assets approaches end-of-life, the industry must shift from a linear build-and-replace model to one that places circularity at its core.
Volta is actively working with clients to embed these principles early in the project lifecycle, informing design, procurement, and commercial decisions to enable recovery, reuse, and long-term value realisation.
“Volta’s decision to join CPVA as an Industry Member reflects a growing recognition that we’re seeing across the sector that circularity practices can help de-risk and add value to a project,” said Megan Jones, CEO of CPVA. “We find that forward-thinking developers like Volta are attracted to CPVA’s work, and are stepping into industry leadership roles, shaping the market and driving practical, on-the-ground outcomes for the circular PV economy.”
Ryan McKenzie is a founder and Managing Director at Volta Energy Group.
“Joining Circular PV Alliance reflects Volta’s commitment to future-proofing projects from day one and working collaboratively across the sector to build the infrastructure and frameworks the energy transition requires across solar’s entire lifecycle,” explains McKenzie. “We look forward to achieving practical, scalable solutions to develop the circular economy systems Australia’s solar sector needs.”
Volta joins an esteemed and growing group of organisations across Australia pledging support to CPVA. This includes an ever-expanding cohort of local governments that are seeking collective support as regional communities play a critical role in hosting utility scale solar energy projects arising from the energy transition.
“Sustainable waste management and circularity practices are still largely being driven by industry stakeholders,” says Jones. “The recently announced federal government’s $24.7 million solar panel recycling pilot project is a welcome initiative, with industry leadership demonstrated by Volta and CPVA’s other members continuing to set the standard in terms of circularity best practice.”
CPVA is a not-for-profit industry body founded in 2021 to specifically address the growing volume of solar panels entering landfill by identifying solutions and opportunities for the circular PV economy. CPVA has built a national and international profile in the solar energy circular economy space and was invited to join the International Solar Alliance’s SUNRISE Advisory Board in 2026. The University of Queensland and CPVA previously released the Reclaimed PV Panels Market Assessment Industry Report in 2023. CPVA looks forward to continuing to work with Volta and drive innovation in the circular PV economy.
