Powershop drops Vic rates 5% thanks to new hydro, wind, solar assets

Electricity retailer Powershop is dropping the rates for its Victorian customers by 5%, as it adds “a diverse set of renewable generation” to its portfolio. Powershop is the retail arms of New Zealand-based utility Meridian Energy.

Gullen Solar Farm kicks off co-location in NSW

The Australian Wind Alliances’s NSW regional coordinator, Charlie Prell, attended the launch of the new Gullen Solar Farm at Bannaby, just south of Crookwell in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.

Germany’s innogy is set to acquire the Limondale and Hilston utility scale solar projects in New South Wales from developer Overland Sun Farming. The two projects have a combined capacity of over 460 MW.

CEFC provides $30 million debt finance for NSW’s largest solar farm

New South Wales’ largest large scale solar project has reached financial close, with the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) stepping in to provide debt finance for the project. The two organisations have now worked together to develop 260 MW of renewables in regional NSW.

UNSW signs offsite solar PPA for 100% of its electricity needs

The source of series of pioneering PV technologies is set to become 100% solar powered. The University of New South Wales (UNSW) has announced the signing of a PPA that will see it procure all of its electricity from the 200 MW Sunraysia Solar Farm in rural New South Wales.

Maoneng signs PPA for 300 MW in New South Wales

Chinese/Australian developer Maoneng has signed a 15-year PPA to provide energy company AGL with 300 MW of PV projects, to provide up to 800,000 MWh of electricity per year. The projects form part of AGL’s plan to replace the coal-fired Liddell Power Station, set to close in 2022.

Todae Solar completes 1.77 MW rooftop PV Charles Sturt University

Sydney-based commercial rooftop solar specialists Todae Solar opened one of Australia’s largest rooftop PV array at Charles Sturt University’s Wagga Wagga campus this week. The multi-rooftop system comes in at 1.77 MW and will provide “an immediate financial benefit” to CSU.

First sonnenFlat system installed in New South Wales

The first sonnen system to be installed in Australia under the sonnenFlat pricing structure will save the family $2,000 on their electricity bills. Installer Natural Solar made the claim on Friday, when announcing the landmark system.
