A group of New South Wales local councils have banded together to secure a power procurement agreement with solar-focused electricity retailer Mojo Power that they say will allow them to satisfy the electricity demands of their major infrastructure with 100% renewable energy while providing a path for participants to reduce their overall emissions.
WePower has delivered its blockchain-enabled Elemental technology to Mojo Power for the establishment of the Mojo Marketplace, an online shopping setup whereby businesses and industry can shop for locally sourced renewable energy retail contracts.
With new solar coming online or joining the queue at the back of the grid bottleneck, WePower’s Marketplace acts as a connective tissue between renewable energy generators and the coal intensive steel manufacturing industry. WePower then, is helping to build Australia’s green steel industry of the future. WePower’s Harley Tempest sat down with pv magazine to discuss.
The 9.4MW Robinvale Solar Farm is Suntech’s first 100% owned project in the Australian pipeline to come to fruition and the first solar project in Australia to deploy WePower’s blockchain-based PPA architecture, which opens up opportunities for smaller corporate customers to go green with their procurement strategy.
