The Australian rooftop PV market is expected to eclipse all previous records in 2020 but a new report has raised serious questions about the fire safety standards associated with small-scale solar installations.

The Victorian government on Tuesday announced a $797 million energy efficiency package to accelerate the rollout of rooftop solar and batteries around the state. The package will also deliver home energy upgrades to over 250,0000 households, set new home and rental energy standards, and offer immediate bill relief to people facing hardship during the pandemic.

230 Northern Territory businesses have already received their vouchers for Australia’s most generous energy storage subsidity, the NT’s Home and Business Battery Scheme. The scheme, which is still open for applications until November 30, offers grants of $6,00 to homeowners and business owners to install solar and battery storage, or complement an existing solar system with a battery.
