While it is still working on establishing its manufacturing capabilities in Adelaide, Canada’s Eguana Technologies has announced that its Evolve batteries are available in South Australia through its distribution partner AC Solar Warehouse.
The battery manufacturer has already seen strong bookings under the under the South Australian Home Battery Scheme.
“Strategically we are on track to become the dominant supplier of energy storage in South Australia,” stated Brent Harris, Chief Technology Officer for Eguana Technologies.
“Our SA order book has crossed the $1.5 million mark in less than two weeks and as we establish our System Provider partner network in the market, we recognize they require capable distribution partners to support their growth. It’s great to see our partner AC Solar Warehouse stepping in to ensure this success.”
Following in the footsteps of Germany’s sonnen and China-headquartered Alpha-ESS, Eguana was the third energy storage manufacturer to join the SA Home Battery Scheme and pledge to manufacture or assemble battery systems locally.
In late November, the company announced a $12 million investment in partnership with LG and plans to set up a manufacturing facility in Adelaide, creating up to 200 new jobs over the next three years.
Under the $100 million Home Battery Scheme, 40,000 SA households will be granted subsidies of up to $6,000. In cases when the upfront costs of the home battery system installations are not met by the SA government subsidies, additional loans will be available through $100 million funding from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
Since one of the scheme’s key requirements is to install virtual power plant ready integrated battery systems, Eguana says its Evolve is residential energy storage system is ideally suited with its VPP capable AC coupled format supporting backup operation with solar charging ensuring that both new and retrofit customers can get the maximum value out of their energy storage purchase.
Evolve is a fully-integrated residential energy storage system that includes the company’s proprietary power electronics system, LG Chem low-voltage battery modules, and a user interface.
The system is rated at 5 kW AC output with a modular battery design based on a 6.5 kWh battery, which is scalable from 13 to 39 kWh in storage capacity.
The Evolve product, which was tested and recently endorsed by Mercedes Benz Energy, comes as a wall-mounted package suitable for indoor and outdoor installations. It is backed by a 10-year standard warranty.
