Western Australian government-owned utility Synergy will offer free electricity to eligible customers in a move that is designed in part to help counter challenges the state’s main power grid faces when rooftop solar generation is high and demand for energy in the system is low.

The America-based National Renewable Energy Laboratory has released the findings of a study that assessed the technical potential for floating PV and underlined its co-benefits in environmental protection and food security.

California-based manufacturer SEG Solar says its new panels have a temperature coefficient of -0.30% per degree Celsius. They come with a 30-year power output guarantee for 87.4% of the initial yield.

Solar Analytics, an Australian solar energy analytics company, is offering a new service that allows solar owners to retrieve consumption data directly from retail meters, eliminating the need for additional consumption metering. Known as Integrated+, the release to all eligible homes in the National Electricity Market (NEM) follows a trial in Victoria. 

Brazilian renewables developer Elera Renováveis has commissioned the 1.2 GW Janaúba solar complex in the nation’s southeast. The facility, which went online this week, consists of 20 solar parks spread across 3,000 hectares.

German renewables developer Solar Kapital has deployed membranes at three of its utility scale PV plants in Greece and claims the technology has delivered an up to 6.4% increase in yield and the payback time of the new solution is relatively short.
